Val D'isere
France
Sam spent a few years working in house for an English interior architecture + design company called Custom.
They specialised in high end interior refurbs in the opulent french ski resorts of Meribel + Val D'isere.
As a young but very ambitious company they had been successful in landing some big jobs but their design process was almost non existent.
Sam's role was to help the owner create and define his, and the company's design process. In doing so he was also heavily involved in the design of a number of the projects from 2015-2018.
It was Sam's role to survey the properties, and make detailed CAD models to bring back to the UK and have a map to work from. He was then responsible for working out the best structural changes to positively change the flow of the building, and the general design at concept stage.
This property was one of two that Custom refurbished during the summer of 2017. On top of re-jigging the whole layout to make the rooms work better, Sam's design completely overhauled the central space. Opening up various walls to allow extended views through what was a pokey closed space to start with. This allowed the whole property to flow better, and it created the bar area.
